INTERFAITH WEEK 2020

Our Interfaith Week in school (week beginning 9th November) started with an assembly in the classrooms. Lots of great information was discussed and shared about other religions and faiths.

The children took part in activities in their classrooms: matching different symbols and places of worship to the faiths in FP, KS2 children carried out research on the different faiths.

We concluded our week with an Interfaith Assembly with 2 visitors who came to speak to the juniors about their faiths to the children. Due to the current situation we had 2 sessions, one for yrs3&4 and the other for yrs5&6. Both sessions were held in the hall with social distancing maintained between guests and children.

Mr Stanley Soffa, Chairman of the South Wales Jewish Representative Council and Reverend Aled Edwards OBE, Chief executive of Cytun, Churches Together in Wales.
It was a great session full of great information from the guests about their faiths followed by some fab questions from the children. A great learning experience for all. This helped the children to understand that there is a lot more in common amongst our faiths and lots of common values that we share. As all 3 faiths (Islam, Christianity and Judaism) are Abrahamic faiths, we should look to celebrating the values we share rather than the differences between us. A great lesson to take away!
Thankyou to our wonderful guests for their time!

LONGTOWN RESIDENTIAL TRIP

Some of our children from Years 4, 5 & 6 attended the Longtown residential trip from 30th April to 2nd May 2018. This was a joint trip with St. Monica's to help promote different faiths working together.

A fabulous time for all involved. The children were involved in many activities from visiting a farm, orienteering, camp fires, the challenge wall, climbing wall, paddle boarding, shelter building, balance beam and a castle trip.

The children gained team building skills and overcame obstacles with the help of their friends. Each child learnt to be more independent and responsible.

All in all a fabulous adventure that the children will never forget!

Many thanks to our friends at St. Monica's primary school for inviting us on this trip and to the wonderful staff at Longtown for your wonderful hospitality.
