Curriculum
Our curriculum is based on the National Curriculum for Wales. We are keenly following the Welsh Government’s proposed changes as we understand the benefit this will bring to our children.

Our curriculum is broad, balanced and differentiated to meet individual needs and abilities. We are developing a thematic approach to our learning and teaching where all learning experiences aim to develop children’s Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Competence, and are set in a meaningful context that motivates and inspires our children to learn.
We are currently restructuring our Schemes of Work under the following Areas of Learning:
- Language, Literacy and Communication
- Mathematics and Numeracy
- Health and Wellbeing
- Science and Technology
- Humanities
- Expressive Arts
We also teach the following subjects:
- Arabic
- Tajweed and Hifz
- Islamic Studies
In both the Infants and the Juniors we are aiming to make learning more experience-based, in order to build our children’s ability to learn new skills and apply their subject knowledge more positively and creatively. They are encouraged to practise and consolidate their learning, play with ideas, experiment, take risks, solve problems, and make decisions individually, in small and in large group.
Formative assessment is continuous and takes place on a daily basis and is key in determining each child’s next stage in their learning. Children’s progress is logged and tracked through INCERTS.
Summative Assessments are made at the end of each academic year and the end of phase (Years 2 and 6). This is informed from the formative assessment and the Welsh Government tests in Reading and Numeracy.
