KS1: Welcome to our Arabic home page. We have so much pleasure in delivering Modern Standard Arabic lessons to all the school. The children are amazing, they learn so much and love Arabic Language.

 

In all lessons, the classroom projector, board, letters poster, mini boards, play dough, colouring sheets, scissors, glue, letters puzzles and flash cards are used in emphasis of lessons taught as appropriate - giving children as much choice as possible. The out lines for our Arabic program are:

 

 

Reception

Reception level introduces the Arabic language in a in a pleasant and loving manner; it focuses on teaching the alphabet and developing oracy skills through pictures and rhymes. The Arabic program aims to enable students to:

Revise the letters from Ø£  to Ù‡Ø§Ø¡ and revise all the Arabic words related to their letters.

Revise the Arabic songs and the stories.

        Learn more classroom commands and ask simple questions in Arabic.
       Teach the Alphabet, first words and picturesهـ   م ـ also revise previous letters.

Year 1

  • The Arabic program revises the alphabet and develops oracy skills through pictures and rhymes. The main teaching resources are Fun Arabic Learning - Reception textbook/workbook, flashcards and videos, it aims to enable students to:

    • Revising from “Fun Arabic Learning - Reception Level”, the children would read and write short sentences, using the learnt vocabulary and some new words on the following topics:

      • The Arabic program focuses on developing basic reading and writing skills, it aims to enable
        students to:
         Read words with Fatha, Kasrah and damma more fluently.
         Teaches letters (م – هـ) with fatha, dhama and kasra sounds, with examples.
          Learn those letters (م – هـ) in their isolated, initial, medial and final forms, with examples.
         Read and write the words learnt with focus on joining the letters correctly on the line.
         Learn a new poem about colours.

Year 2

The Arabic program fills the gap in students’ basic reading and writing skills. The main teaching resources are Fun Arabic Learning 1- textbook and workbook, flashcards and videos, it aims to enable students to:

  • Working on the book “Fun Arabic Learning 1”The Arabic lessons aim to enable students to:
     Revise the definite article “the” ال with nouns and adjectives for masculine and feminine forms.
     Read ال with sun and moon letters. 
     Revise the pronouns I, and you for boys and girls.
     Ask about and Introduce name and gender for boys and girls.
     Learn questions “are you …” and answer with yes, and no
     Learn to introduce family members (masculine and feminine forms) and express love for family.

KS2: The Arabic language programme covers the skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening in each lesson. We use a variety of learning tools such as Fun Arabic Learning book for Years 3 and 4, and I Love Arabic book for years 5 and 6. Flashcards, games, videos, roleplays, acting and worksheets are used to develop independent learning and students’ confidence. As students progress, we introduce extra reading and writing activities.

 

 

Year 3

  • say their names, and ask for each other’s names using masculine and feminine forms.
  • use question words: Who are you? Is this…? Who is this? Using the correct pronouns, and masculine and feminine forms.
  • read and write using textbooks and workbooks.
  • answer a variety of questions on worksheets.
  • spell key words.

 

 

Year 4

  • say Arabic numbers from 1 to 100 using Snakes & Ladders.
  • say their age and ask others their age using the masculine and feminine forms.
  • read and write using textbooks and workbooks.
  • use a range of colours when describing objects.
  • spell key words.

 

Year 5

  • use new vocabulary about school.
  • use verbs, nouns and adjectives in sentences.
  • form question words with the correct pronouns.
  • read and write using textbooks and workbooks.
  • use the days of the week in speaking and writing.
  • spell key words.

 

Year 6

  • use country names and job titles.
  • how to say where are you from and your nationality.
  • speak more fluently through regular role-plays and picture descriptions.
  • make a vocabulary list in their textbooks for important and difficult words.
  • understand parts of speech.
  • read and speak more fluently with home-reading and class feedback.
  • spell key words.
